Hello world!

We’re extremely excited to show our excitement to start sharing our story with Scraplr, a web based task container that we currently develop.

There already been to-do list, GTD, task manager applications floating around the cloud, some of them are already established for years and others are equipped with tons of features. And yet others offers minimalistic feel and handling which at some parts seem to be “over minimalistic”.

So why do we have to bring another application into the market, when there have probably already been hundreds?

The answer is quite simple, we want to make a task-container that is easy to use. The “this is easy..” feel we have when we collect, prioritize and group our to-dos. Simply focus on what we need to do.

With that in mind we went ahead hand crafting Scraplr, with the hope that it’ll also bring the same feeling to our future users of Scraplr.

Anyway, it’s likely you’ve just entered your email on our buzz page, and again thank you for your interest. Your email encourages us to keep the tempo up with the development we’re currently focusing on.

Cheers,

scraplr team

No doubt an amazing looking application. Are you using Sproutcore for this?
  • scraplr
Thanks for the kind words Doug. We're using protoculous for the interaction.

  • Wow, this app looks really cool. I am constantly looking for a great task app that can be used across different platforms as I have home computer, iphone, and work computer. This seems like it would work seamlessly where ever I go and with whatever I have. Can't wait for the invite! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the compliment Shaun, we're tightening some loose ends for private testing very soon. Nice to have your name on our invitation list. See you soon.. :)
  • Hi, I'm trying to find a contact email for one of your team to discuss a piece I'd like to write about Scraplr. Can someone please get in touch with me? liam(dot)cassidy(at)me.com
    Thanks!

It looks great so far! I was wondering, will it work on Mac 10.4 OSX? Or just Leopard? Also, would there be a way to customize the predefined categories? (For example, in addition to "Today," could I create a category called "This Week"?)
  • scraplr
    Hi Katherine,

Thanks for stopping by. Scraplr is a web based app, so it will run inside your web browser. Any modern browsers should works, like Safari 3.x or Safari 4, Firefox 3.x, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer 7/8.
About predefined categories, currently we have no plan yet to add user's predefined category. We'll provide a set of predefined tags and user can also create tags and "scheduled" categories instead. So it'll be searchable. Taking your example, the "this week" categories may fall to "scheduled" with "This Week" as custom tag. So when you search for "this week" it'll be shown as a group of tasks owning the "this week" tag. Hope it clear out your question.

We'll let you know more as we have the beta invitation available.

    Cheers,
    Scraplr Team

Who is your icon designer? It's AMAZING work!!
  • Thank you for the compliment Jay,
we're doing the icon works inhouse.
  • Do you guys have a twitter account that is more frequently updated with progress?
  • I really like what I see at this early stage. I've been using desktop apps for task management in the past, but continually find myself wanting something more "connected," cross-platform, and reasonably priced. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this promising app.
  • Hi Logan,

Sorry for late respond, we've been busy with our baby :).

Sounds like you had same experience with us. Its the same matters that we always want :)

We'll surely let you know when scraplr is available.
  • Mark
An early glance shows that you guys are quite paying attention to simplicity, can't wait to see what you are came up with that ease feel you mentioned..
  • Thanks for your word Mark, we'll post updates in upcoming days as we're progressing with the development.
